Kirk's Hot Ride - November 2010

Jeff & Tristen Mattazaro's 1956 Chevy Pick Up

November 2010

The chassis on Jeff's '56 was updated with TCI coilover suspension goodies, rack and pinion steering, and Wilwood brakes. The 350 was custom built by the late Ed Hail and trimmed with finned valve covers, an Edelbrock intake, a Mallory ignition, and Sanderson headers. It was connected to the waiting Ford 9” with a B&M TH350.

Great effort went into relocating components underneath the cab to keep the engine bay clean. The firewall and fenderwells have been smoothed and remain uncluttered. The body was then smoothed to perfection and painted in a striking Kiwi Green selected from a palette of Honda color chips. Jeff has a green and black sand car and he wanted it to match.

A look through the Raceline website brought about a set of good-looking 20 and 22” Speedster wheels. They were wrapped in Nitto tires and bolted in place.

Inside, the dash features double gauge clusters and dash humps, much like a '55 Chevy passenger car. Custom white-faced gauges from Classic Industries were added, with a clock for the passenger side. A lower dash panel was added to house the Vintage Air A/C vents. Benny Gonzales added a Glide seat and trimmed everything in soft tan leather. To finish it off, the Ididit tilt column was capped with a two-spoke steering wheel from Billet Specialties.

With the truck completed, Jeff and his wife Tristin are having fun driving it and enjoying it at shows.
