25th - 28th October 2013 - The New Zealand Military Vehicle Collectors Club is organising an event called 'The Marines @ Mahia'. This is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of when the US Marines landed on the beach at Mahia - Hawkes Bay. The Marines carried out their practice landings in their island hopping campaign across the pacific to fight the Japanese. Sadly most of them lost their lives.

LVVTA Aftermarket Steering Column Safety Alert

The Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association (Inc) has identified that some serious safety defects exist within a number of aftermarket steering columns, which, if not replaced, could result in a total loss of steering control of the vehicle to which it is fitted.

Recently I mentioned the Battery Tenders I was trialling, well I can tell you I'm extremely pleased. Less money and equally as good as what I bought from the US. They come with a two year warranty and we have elected to promote two models.........

I've just returned from a quick trip to the US to sort out a few things. I did a stop by Kiwi Shipping/Mainfreight HQ and looked at the new shipping facility they will be using in the next few weeks. Trust me, if you're planning on shipping a vehicle or items back from the US then Steve Curle and his team are the people to call. An amazing facility which is just perfect for loading containers. I met all the team and what a great bunch of people.

Americarna Invercargill got underway with Registration opening at the Bill Richardson Truck museum at 10:00am, Wednesday 23rd March. The morning saw a number of local entrants come to collect their event info. When the out of town 'convoyers' arrived around lunch time, it was all on and the next few hours were crazy while we pumped out Registration folders............

Christchurch Earthquake Appeal

Since the February 22nd earthquake in Christchurch Americarna has been collecting donations from our supporters for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. On the the 22nd March we were very pleased to deliver $7307 directly to the Red Cross in Christchurch. A huge thank you to the following people..........
