Here's an update on what's been happening lately....
The Americarna team visited the Hutt area earlier this month for 4 days to work through more details of the event.........
We have been able to secure the Petone Working Mens Club, 47 Udy Street Petone, as our main Registration Centre and home base.Both the Southward and Masterton visits are shaping up to be fantastic stops. Organising teams at both locations are working closely with the Americarna team to ensure you have a great time. The teams are motivated and really excited about the event coming to their areas.
The Masterton Registration Centre has been confirmed and will be at Magoo’s Street Rods, 23 Edwin Feist Place on Friday 25th February 9.00am – 11.30am. If you would like to register here please make sure you indicate this on your entry form. Only those that request Masterton registration will have their entrants packs here for collection. You will then be able to join the cruise from Magoo’s as it comes into Masterton and descends on the CBD.
Due to some feedback we have received since the Taranaki 2010 event we feel we need to put a few issues to rest regarding the presentation/speeches, dress up theme and music;
-
The ‘Thank You’s’: Yes the Americarna team agree that they became too lengthy but this year two things contributed to the length of the speeches. One, we had a heap of stuff to giveaway. This may be done during the event this time before we depart Thursday and Friday. Two, as we had Barry Meguiar and the film crew here and it was appropriate to acknowledge his and their presence. We doubt we will ever see them again in NZ to cover a car event due to their schedule. We have had the privilege this week to view the Car Crazy footage earlier than everyone else in NZ and it is great! Barry speaks very highly of the event, our cars, and our passion for our cars, our people and the country! The first episode aired in the US last week and we have received amazing feedback from the people in the US that watched the show.
-
The Dress up theme: We asked everyone via email to dress in 50/60’s or red, white & blue. Regrettable in Taranaki only a small number did, a big disappointment. Invercargill on the other hand, if you weren’t dressed up you looked out of place. We will push the dress up theme again.
-
The Music: Yes!! The music was a huge let down. The Americarna team were totally gutted! The person we employed to manage the music was told on the evening to ask the band to play what we had expected of them but it didn’t happen. We had doubts about the music chosen before the event but were convinced otherwise. Unfortunately our fears came true. But Hutt City 2011 is sure to put your concerns to rest. We have taken onboard your feedback and in doing so have secured entertainment that will have you rocking the dance floor the whole night. Just a couple of points to finalise then we can announce the entertainment. But we can guarantee if you don’t attend you will miss out on a great night!
