Mustang-Rebuild---Update-5

Mustang Rebuild - Update 5

Tuesday 12th January 2010

A busy time over Christmas. The Mustang is now in Auckland at Engine Dynamics having the exhaust made and engine completed.

The injection manifold is proving to be an issue as it is miles away from being a bolt onto the heads we are using.  I had been made aware of this fact.  Craig from Engine Dynamics has the challenge to make it work which requires a ton of welding on the manifold.  Kelly from Stitches Upholstery has the seats, so once Amie from Southern Mustang sends the trim kit over when it arrives in the country, he can start his magic.

The second layer of Dynamat supplied by Total Paints courtesay of Digital Logistics Group Ltd, won't be fitted until CJ from C & M Performances has completed the new wiring harness.  I have to thank Golly (Gary Adams) for helping sort out the longer wheel studs needed on the rear end.  He also spent some time making the spacer for the master cylinder.  We hope this combination works as it has done away with the booster, this makes the engine bay look a whole lot cleaner.

Also, doing a late night with me was Bunta from Automotive Brake & Clutch in New Plymouth.  Bunta came over one evening and made all the hard brake lines and completed the flexible lines and hand break cable the following morning.  It was greatly appreciated as he did this for us while they were shut down for Christmas.

Wayne has had some challenges of his own fitting the aircon which has worked out just fine and looks like it was meant to be there.

 Ready for its engine.
Wayne  Fabish with the Mustang outside the workshop where all the hard work has been happening.
 The new Mags.

I guess the good thing about the weekly update is I can put some pressure on the people in Auckland working on it for photos and a few words! Hmmm....... lets see what happens.

All in all its been a fun project.  I'm looking forward to having it finished and going for a 'skid' .......sorry I mean 'drive' down the road.

Until next week,
Cheers

JR
