Update - 3rd December 2013
Hi Everyone, we thought this week we would update you on some of the event program which has recently been firmed up and in particular the Wednesday trip to Whangamomona....
This promises to be a very special day with the cruise along the Forgotten World Highway, which is listed as one of the “Must Do” drives in the November issue of NZV8. The scenery along the route is stunning and although the road is windy, it is fully sealed and fun to drive.
The first thing to greet you on arrival is the iconic Whanga Pub and the feeling you have just stepped back 60 years in time, but the hospitality of the locals is extremely welcoming and they are promising a fun day. A sheep shearing demonstration and a gumboot throwing competition are just two items on the agenda along with many food options and some surprises that should keep everyone amused and entertained.
Whanga also declared themselves as New Zealand’s only Republic several years ago, so make sure you purchase your passport which will be available on the day. For more information and background click here.
Another unique experience while you are there is the Forgotten World Adventures rail carts. Motorised carts are available for a one hour return adventure along the now, unused railway line that continues on through to Taumaranui. This opportunity is offered to AmeriCARna entrants only and will be very popular, so bookings are essential. For more information click here.
Secondly we are very excited to announce the confirmation of the world renowned musician Shaun Preston who will make one only appearance on Saturday afternoon at AmeriCARnival. This is a rare chance to see Shaun perform and a special thanks goes to JD Hickman Transport who will supply the stage within the CBD for Shaun and others to entertain you throughout the day.
We welcome and thank three new supporters of AmeriCARna:
Marinovich’s Seafood Restaurant and Café: Great family Seafood Restaurant.
Devon Imports Ltd: Direct importers of American vehicles.
Pak’n’Save New Plymouth: AmeriCARna’s preferred Supermarket.
Sentry Hill Motel has also joined the list of preferred accommodation providers and is situated on the outskirts of New Plymouth and has great secure parking outside your door with security cameras, Sky TV and free WiFi as an added bonus.
That’s all for now.......but remember
When everything’s coming at you........ you’re in the wrong lane !!
