Wayne is a Taranaki man, born and raised. He completed an apprenticeship as a Fitter Turner and Machinist and has been in the Transport Engineering business since. In 1972 he became Managing Director of the family business McCurdy Engineering and has been instrumental in growing the business to the success it is today. McCurdy Engineering is currently celebrating 50 years of business. Of more recent years Wayne branched the business out and is now also Managing Director of Moller Johnson Ltd South Taranaki and Bell Block.
Wayne is involved with the Motor Trade Association (MTA) as Chairman of the Heavy Vehicle Advisory Group in Wellington plus numerous other trade affiliations. For the last 27 years he has been a member of the New Plymouth West Rotary Club.
Cars are a big part of Wayne’s life which extends throughout his family. He sees Americarna as a huge benefit to the community of Taranaki in providing family recreation and enjoyment at no cost as well as providing opportunity for many clubs, schools, organisations and businesses throughout the region. His motivation as a trustee of the Taranaki Vehicle Events Trust is to ensure this continues for many years to come.
Away from work, family is a big focus for Wayne. He has been married to Francis since 1969; they have four adult children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Wayne enjoys sport and is very involved with all his grandkids through their sporting activities.
